Put Your Child on the Path to Their Healthiest Smile
You know you are a good parent, and you always want the best things in life for your kids, including helping them have amazing smile.
While you can see their teeth are crooked and keep wishing with all your might their smile might straighten itself, you can see it’s not happening.
Also, even though you secretly would like to have your kids NOT go through braces, you don’t want to them to regret not having a nice smile. Therefore, you started researching possible solutions, and might have even asked your family dentist or friends about options and timing for braces.
Yet, even with all your homework and the information you got, you might still be confused (and are now on the TFO website) because you haven’t found honest or satisfactory answers to a few very common questions such as:
- Why should I even see an orthodontist?
- How can I tell the difference among orthodontic providers?
- What’s the difference between an orthodontist and my family dentist?
- What will the braces experience be like?
- What are treatment options that I have other than braces?
- When is the best time to get started?
- How does my dental insurance work?
- How can I make orthodontic care fit into my family’s budget?
- Does my child need adult teeth removed?
- What happens when the braces come off?
These are great questions, and need more space than a few lines on this webpage to answer sufficiently.
Therefore, I felt compelled to write my latest book “I Think My Child Needs Braces…” so you can become properly educated with the truth about braces, make the necessary investments in your child’s well-being at the correct time, and get their winning smile created right the first time.
When you schedule a one-on-one visit with me at TFO all of the above questions will be answered to your child’s specific situation, but reading about them beforehand will definitely give you an edge…and make you better informed parent!
In order to evaluate what may or may not be concerning, the American Association of Orthodontists recommends that kids have their first orthodontic check-up by starting at age 7 or 8. This is really no different than going to the family dentist for routine dental cleanings or the pediatrician for wellness visits, and is just a checkup to give you peace of mind for what to expect with their jaw growth and tooth development over the next few years. (Parent tip: To keep things easy, many parents bring the younger siblings of their teenage kids in for initial evaluations at the same time for just this reason!)
If you feel your child may benefit from orthodontic treatment or a growth and development evaluation, I invite you to both request a copy of my book, as well as set up a complimentary evaluation with me to go over your child’s specific needs (or maybe even realize there is no orthodontic need!)
Ryan Tamburrino, DMD
Orthodontist, Author, Teacher, Dad
P.S. Just to put you at ease, though, unlike the orthodontic days of yesteryear involving painful adjustments, frequent visits, and long appointments, today’s orthodontic technology is comfortable, often allows for 2-3 months between office visits, and provides for quick appointments that easily fit into your and your child’s busy day.
P.P.S. Orthodontics is not “geeky”, well accepted as a “normal” part of growing up, and most kids think it’s pretty “cool” to have braces!
